Feedback on InvestIdeas

Postby kolslorr » Thu Jun 26, 2008 11:02 am

Hi all, I'm new here, but well, I'm lolipop from CNA if you know me.

I can see potential for this forum, and I enjoy reading the many quality posts here. My only worry is how do u maintain the level of quality here as it gets more popular? Basically, I mean how to prevent this place from becoming another CNA Market Talk that is infested by too many bo liao pple?

Thanks guys, hope to read more from everyone.

Hi kolslorr,

I have never been to CNA Market Talk.

Can you elaborate a bit what you don't like about CNA ?

eg. are there topics that the 'bo liaos' post which you think should be avoid?
1. Always wait for the setup. NO SETUP; NO TRADE

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.

Hi, cna threads include:

1. Auntie Zoe Tay - Botox too expensive?
2. Opposition Would Ruin Singapore - MM Lee

There are more sleazy topics that I would rather not mention. All in all, it reads like Lianhe Wanbao's headlines...all the headlines about sex, rape and the sensational.

That being said, there are threads which are good too. Value investing thread is one that I frequent...the other is pac andes thread. Joshing used to be a good thread to visit for TA (http://forum.channelnewsasia.com/viewtopic.php?t=64607&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=1530)...I think that's about it.

CNA does have its uses. It's my first source of rumors and news. Faster than TV, I assure you.

I believe everyone can learn something from each other. Everyone can learn the humility and willingness to learn from a newbie :)

Hi kolsorr, welcome. :D

To answer your questions - not any different from day-to-day life:

1. Moderators to read (or sample) threads, classify/prune/close/lock them; as well as monitor members' "conduct"
2. Members to self-regulate and raise reports against topics or members (there's a exclamation mark icon for each post - click on it and you can raise a report).

So, it's a mix of forum regulation and self-regulation. I prefer and hope that we'll be able to rely more on the latter, and also attract people who're able to do the latter.

Having said that, having a great sense of humour is highly-appreciated in this forum. Non-investment-related threads actually can have a place here - as long as they're in moderation, in good taste, and sorted properly.

Welcome again. :)
