It seems like we may be seeing the beginning of a rotation into the lesser loved parts of the S&P 500

What if the pair trade for the rest of the year is long S&P 500 equal weight (or $RSP) and short the NASDAQ 100 (or $QQQ)?

History Shows That The Nasdaq Should Move Higher From Here

by Brett Eversole

The “easy ride” might be over for now. But if you got out of the market in July, don’t make matters worse by repeating that mistake today…

History shows that the Nasdaq should move higher. And the largest gains will likely happen in the next few months.

Nine reasons stocks tanked to start September

1. Data wasn't great, with all three key components of ISM manufacturing remaining in contraction territory and construction spending coming in negative. "Bad is bad."

2. Liquidity isn't great with Nasdaq 100 futures essentially at year-to-date lows.

3. Reversion after ripping into the month-end close on Friday. The S&P 500 (SP500) (NYSEARCA:SPY) (IVV) (VOO) has its third-worst day of the year and they have all come since July.

4. Paper paranoia? "We expect ~5B of paper to hit in the upcoming week. We counted $3.2B after the close (Tuesday)."

5. Commodity Trading Advisors, which trade stock futures and derivatives, are "flipping back to the sell side."

6. The yen (USD:JPY) carry trade may not be done.

7. Buybacks slowing down with the next blackout window estimated to begin on Sept. 13.

8. Investors taking the money and running on chips. This is due to residual earnings-related supply in Nvidia (NVDA), negative seasonality for semis (lower every September since 2020), reports that OpenAI is developing new in-house chips and

9. Re-shuffling of books "ahead of a busier stretch of micro data points:" with Broadcom (AVGO) earnings coming and Citi's TMT conference starting
