Iranian possession of hypersonic missiles capable of penetrating through Israel's iron dome interceptor layers.
Open-source defence estimates suggest that an Iranian hypersonic or advanced manoeuvring missile can be produced at a cost ranging from roughly US$1–3 million per unit.
A single US interceptor missile, such as those used in layered missile defence systems, commonly costs between US$10–20 million per launch. Worst, this expensive missile systems are nowhere fast enough to intercept Iranian hypersonic glide vehicles which travel at speeds exceeding Mach 5.
The 2003 intervention in Iraq is estimated to have cost the US in excess of US$2 trillion. Likewise, the war in Afghanistan carried a comparable burden - over US$2 trillion - while yielding no decisive strategic victory.
