I wished I had the chance to write to my father and asked him that question above.
Anyway, after thinking about it for a few days, the following was my reply to him:-

  1. You should try to get a good general education on all subjects
  2. You should try out as many things as possible, to find out what you like and dislike
  3. You should not specialize too early but instead should take your time, to find out where your passion is
  4. Once you have found your passion, you should pursue it as your Career
  5. You should not work in a job that you dont like
  6. Choose your friends carefully. If they are not good people, don’t hang around with them. You already know what is good and what is not good.
  7. After you have started working, you should try to learn how to manage your money ie. Savings, Investments, Taxation etc.
  8. When choosing your Spouse, observe how she treats other people eg. waiters, servants, siblings, parents etc. Also, observe who her friends are.
  9. As you get older, you should also try to read up on all the major religions. Thereafter, you can choose a spiritual path that is most comfortable for you. That path may not be your final spiritual path but is a good stepping stone.
  10. After you have saved some money, you should also try to spend some time to making the world a better place and to try to help people who are less fortunate
  11. Try to travel often and escape from your routine
  12. Always take care of your Body, Mind and Spirit
  13. Always try to have fun and laugh everyday
  14. Always try to be grateful for your situation
  15. Always try to be Reasonable, Polite, Kind, and Generous
  16. Always try to be pure in your Thoughts, Words, Actions
  17. Try to read as much as possible
  18. Always keep an open mind on everything

He must be thinking how long winded I am …
